hey there,
Saw your post and thought you might be helpful... just registered for this site a min ago and would need some advice on buying a 1988 jeep 4*4 and has 168k mileage and selling for $2100. it also has a clean title and looks clean more than likely a single owner. It runs good and smooth but i dont know what else to look for when considering to buy a jeep. I took a mechanic with me and went for a test drive but all he said is he would get it if he was me but he didnt seem to do anything extensive or different than a lay man like me would do when buying a car.
-what questions should i ask?
-what should i check for?
-does that price seem fitting? Im a college student so price is a major factor for me not just being stingy for something worth what is being asked for
thanks for your input in advance

Thanks guys and to Dsw I always try to get stuff for the lowest price possible in addition to my $500 jeep I have been driving a 1990 accord for 3 years I bought for $200
As for questions and such check blue book value and with that mileage ask about matinence ie plugs wires filters timing chains if possible take it to a shop and get the 20 point inspection check suspension tire wear there are a lot of factors I am very mechanical and dont mind a project so I tend to haggle based on problems and things that need adressed
Hope that helps but really as they say "to each his own"
