New XJ Owner in Arizona
Hello everyone. I recently traded straight across a classic VW I've had sitting in my garage for 3 years, not running for a perfectly running on a recently rebuilt 4.0L 1993 XJ 4x4 Sport.
I'm probably going to miss my 1968 VW Type III Fastback, but it was a monumental project that I didn't have time to take seriously. I put it up on Craigslist because my wife and I are moving and someone offered the Jeep in a straight trade. After seeing it, I agreed whole heartedly.
I've owned one other Jeep in my life which was a 1994 Jeep Wrangler Sport that I lifted onto a set of 32x14.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Belted tires. I wheeled the heck out of that Jeep and loved it every time I sat behind the wheel. After it went away, I'd always sworn I'd get another Jeep, just never even thought of the XJ, until now.
So, due to the swap needing a trailer to get my VW out of my garage, the guy with the Jeep is waiting until today to do the swap when I get home from work. It's exciting to be getting a "new" car.... especially one with so much potential for badassery.
Anyway, the important stuff... pictures. Thats what everyone likes. Its not too impressive right now at stock height with some 15x8 black wagon wheels and severely oxidized paint, but otherwise a very strong candidate for a nice wheeler.
As far as plans for the thing. I'd like to get it up on 33x12x5 KM2s and will do the body and paint work myself. I've concocted a color combination that I believe would work quite well with the body lines. Anyway, here it is...
