from what I understand there's a few different axle options I could have, so I was wondering how to find out definitively what I've got under the Xj. and also, I've read that there's a couple different gear ratios I could have. How can I figure out what axles I have and what gears are in them?

yeah I'm sure they're stock. I HIGHLY doubt that the PO swapped axles.
So I'm guessing just a dana30 and a dana35 but isn't there a chrysler 8. something I could have out back?
and I think I read something about there being a dana30 or a dana30c?
man the dif fluid was just changed. I'd hate to open up the diffs. isn't there a way to count the tire rotation vs drive shaft rotations to figure out the gearing?

yeah tell me about it. I'll probably do that at work tomorrow if it's slow.
another question for y'all. I searched but didn't find anything definitive, but how involved is it to swap the front grill and so on from a 97+ model? what all would you need? are the fenders, hood, and headlights etc different, or could i just get my hands on the grill and headlight surrounds and swap it over?
