New to the XJ but not the Jeep
Hi all. I just purchased a 1986 Cherokee Laredo. It has the 2.8L V6 that apparently everyone loaths but it only has 66K on the engine and transmission with 188K on the body. Just one dent in the driver's side front fender but no rust anywhere, nothing leaks and everything on the truck works including all the guages, the factory radio, and most importantly the 4WD. I have to admit the little bugger is week compared to the FSJs that I have had in the past but it is a dream to drive and I consider it a darn fine machine considering I only gave $1000 for it. I have no plans to lift it or trail ride in it but only to drive it back and forth to my hunting lease 2.5 hrs away and then get me around on the club trails while I'm there. If I find the desire to trail ride I guess I'll look for another FSJ or maybe another XJ with the 4.0. Anyhow, thanks for reading this far and I hope to learn from this site as well as contribute when I can. Happy wheelin'!

Welcome from VA! Drive it long enough on the trails and you'll bethinking, "how hard is a 4.0 swap? 3 inches of lift wouldn't be that bad." I'm telling ya, once you drive an XJ the Jeep obsession starts.
