New Owner in Michigan. 98 Sport
Just bought a new to me Cherokee Sport. Currently sitting at 135,000 miles and seems to run and drive great. I've come from a trend of owning subcompacts and when I had the chance to pick up this one from a family member for a reasonably low price, I jumped.
So far, I've come about a few small issues that I intend to resolve.
-Front diff needs gasket, and likely all fluids.
-Faulty sending unit (reads 1/4 tank when empty) Dealer Recall?
-Hatch struts are weak.
-Driver door needs bracket where roll pin attaches.
-Road noise? Assumed to be tread noise, but I also read about front drive shaft being out of balance causing this.
Aside from that I think it just needs a general tune up, suspension component check, and probably new belts.
Just bought an FSM so it should be a breeze. :-/

Clean jeep man! The vibes could be in the drive shaft or wheel joints, maybe. Get the thing tuned up as much as you can. Chances are the vehicle has a decent maintenance record, but things like he radiator and coolant system in general could be flushed. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor and any number of other sensors and components such as the TPS, IAC and o2 sensors are all suspect to issue/failure. Check the oil, if ya haven't already. Don't forget about the air filter!

Tomorrow I'm going to replace fluid in both front and rear diffs. Front shaft seal seems to be leaking. Did some searching for a replacement and found a seal and a "redi-sleeve". I was under the impression there was only a seal there. Can someone explain the Redi-Seal?
Thanks.
Thanks.
