New (to me) XJ
Hey Cherokee Guys,
New to this forum but not to wrenching. Last car (and still for sale) is a 2001 SAAB Viggen. I have had this car for a few years and have put on BBS RK1's, dropped on Koni springs and adjustable shocks, subframe braces and sway bars, poly everything, strut mounts, built motor with JE Forged pistons and all new coated bearings, flowed head, 3" Stainless high flow exhaust, Cobra intake pipe, Mitsubishi turbo, built transmission with cobalt internals and a Quaife lsd, plus lots and lots and lots of other stuff.

Decided I wanted something different. picked this up the other day. excuse the SAAB in the background wearing winter wheels and tires.

97 Cherokee sport, little to no rust, runs good with solid oil pressure. One owner, no modifications. Looking to make this into a solid DD and confidant on and off road. Planning on just going through it and making sure all the maintenance is up to date before I start with the mods.
Any suggestions on cures for the "death wobble"? It drives very nice on the road, but a quick trip down a dirt road got interesting over some potholes.
Looking forward to reading and learning about my next money pit!

Welcome! You'll like jeep life a lot better than ricer life. To conquer death wobble check tie rod ends, bushings, and get an alignment. The axle to track bar mount bolt may also be a problem, check and see if it's loose. Again welcome and nice jeep!

the SAAB is fun, never left me stranded, and I smoked more than acouple BMW's. Car did 280whp and 310wtq before the turbo swap and motor build. Butt dyno says I gained a few.
However, went wheelin this afternoon/evening up some dirt road and jeep trails. Had so much fun, no photo's unfortunately, but she got dirty for the first time.
What is normal oil pressure for these rigs? I get about 50psi at start up, 40 at warm idle, and at points on the trail it would go down to 25-30psi. Previous owner claimed he had swapped the motor with about 60k on it in last year and installed a "better" intake manifold and exhaust manifold. Does not drop a leak of oil, and he had a nice garage full of JEEPs so I tend to believe him.
