New to Jeeps, not to wrenching
Hello everyone. I guess I'll give some info on myself as a new member. I'm Andy, 21 years old and I've been working on cars for as long as I can remember. My dad taught me the basics like tune ups and brakes at a young age and when I was 14 I bought myself a 1969 Pontiac GTO convertible. I slowly restored it over 3.5 years and have been enjoying it the past 4 summers. It's not perfect, but gets the job done.
My buddy has a '94 Wrangler with lots of goodies on it and it sparked an interest in Jeeps for me and I went about looking for a Wrangler project but found they are very expensive so I was looking at other options.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago when I found a 1993 Cherokee on craigslist. The PO parked it last November because the slave cylinder went out and it needed floor work. It was perfect for me as a manual trans was required for me. I picked it up for $500 and ripped into it. Over the past few weeks I have completely replaced the clutch (disc, pressure plate, slave), full brakes, and fixed the frame and floor rot. It is pretty much road worthy again just need to go file the paperwork to get the title transferred and plates.
So here's some pics of my work. I'm doing this all on the cheap and as of today I have $998 total into the whole project. The tags will add maybe another 200.
Day I got it in the guys back yard
New clutch
Floors cut out
Frame repair. I used 1x1 angle iron welded in and 4 ladder bars across. It made the frame SOLID compared to what was left of the stock setup.
16 gauge sheet metal beat into shape to make up the floors (its really thick and strong, but hard to work with)
And some little things I've done while bored like paint all 4 tires as the rims were really rusty. Cleaned them up with a wire wheel and then shot some flat black.
I've also done the typical maintenance like fluid changes in both axles, trans, tcase, engine, ect..
I'm going to go roam around and see what I want to do for mods to this thing eventually.

Also some notes on my welds and all that. I did clean up the rust from all welding areas, I was just too lazy to clean it off of anywhere else perfectly. I hit everything with a couple coast of rusty metal primer and then some enamel before I put the floors in to stop further rust.
The thing drives OK, it wanders a bit which may be worn tie rods. It used to wander a ton but some new front shocks fixed that as the whole thing was rocking around like crazy with bumps and turns. It will do as this thing for now is my winter beater while the gto sleeps for the winter.
