New to Jeeps, and this forum! Help with my Jeep problems?
Hey fellow Jeep owners! My name is Christian, and I'm from California. Today I picked up a dirt-cheap but surprisingly clean 1987 Cherokee XJ four-door with a 4.0 engine and auto trans. It is the "pioneer" model, with power windows and locks! I drove it quite a ways home from the place I bought it from, and noticed a couple of issues:
-The engine, although it runs very smooth, makes a clattering noise from the top-end. Oil level is fine, but oil pressure drops a bit at idle. The noise it makes doesn't affect performance, and the engine does not feel rough. Should I be worried?
-The brake booster makes a hissing sound, and the brakes are a little soft. Is it hard to replace the booster?
The Jeep only has 193,000 miles on it, and I'm its third owner. My goal is to keep it as original as possible, and bring all the mechanical bits into tip-top shape. Any help with my Jeep problems is greatly appreciated!
