New to Jeeps
Hello all
I grew up in Southern California and have been playing off road since I was 7 (39 now). Mostly in the sand dunes in Glamis but also Ocotillo, Johnson Valley, etc... I even learned how to drive stick in my dad's sandrail. I've wrenched on multiple motorcycles and Volkswagen based toys but I have never built a Jeep.
I moved my family to Idaho 8 years ago and I've been wanting to explore all this land since we got here. I recently came across a 96 XJ Country with 70000 miles. It's pretty dang clean and I thought it was a good deal for $2500. This is a daily driver for me (even though I work from home) and my original thought was to go with a Clayton, Serious or RE long arm kit. My daughter is about to start college and money is a little tighter so to stay with a quality ride and components for a little less $$ I went with a RE 4.5 Super Flex kit with CA drops to maintain a nice ride. One day I'd like this to be just a toy and at that time I'll probably upgrade.
So far I installed the lift, cut my fenders and lifted my stock flairs to fit 33s. Pretty much just finished all that and figured I'd use my first post to say thanks for all the knowledge here and share my progress.
