Default New jeep owner.

Just bought a 99 cherokee sport 4x4 with 201k on it. Everything original and runs like a top. In really damn good shape so I am thinking the previous owner took good care of it. Active duty Metal smith in the Navy stationed in New jersey Looking to upgrade to some nice A/Ts and then just upgrade the suspension parts for a nice ride. I think these shocks are factory!

Already started to work on it a bit. Bedlinering the sun faded trim

Also, the tranny fluid looks like it's time to change but with this many miles I am a little apprehensive to change it. Should I? Changing the oil and going with mobil high mileage and a mopar filter.

Looks great, my last XJ has 252k on it when I sold it. Still runs great.

I would definately change the fluid and filter, just don't flush it.

Ok I will look for a how too on changing the tranny. I don't do flushes but I have a modded nissan titan and I get the fluid exchanged in the tranny pretty often.

Thank You for Your Service.
Nice looking Jeep.
Here's a couple of write ups for changing the trans fluid and filter.

So what kind of trans filter and fluid do you guys recommend. I usually run amsoil but since this thing already has 200k on it I am thinking Just new fluid will be good.

I just did mine last weekend with 127,700 on it. I went to O'reillys and bought a filter and gasket combo, and synthetic transmission fluid.

In your owners manual it will say what kind of transmission fluid you need. Get the synthetic brand that is compatible with what your Jeep takes.

Amsoil is great. I just use their normal red cap-multi vechicle- ATF. I would not recomend power flushing it as it seems to cause problems for some people. Just drain and refill. The jeep looks clean! Welcome to the forum.

I know what kind of fluid just wasn't sure about brand recommendations. I know anything other than factory in my Titan is pretty sketchy and wasn't sure how picky the jeep was.

Thanks! Picked up 5 used 31/1050-15s with 40%+ tread left for 100 bucks! Now I need to decide on what lift to run. I was going to get the Zone lift but I got under the jeep tonight and it needs new shackles, rear end and front end need leaks fixed and new fluid. But I do really need shocks...... Decisions.
