New here and to Jeeps
About to turn 21 and bought my first car two weeks ago. I could write you all a novel about drooling over jeeps for years but long story short I got a 99' cherokee now and can't wait start building on it. Paid 2400 bucks for it with 95k miles and took it to a mechanic for some stuff because I don't have the know how or the ability to work on it atm. I'm working in CT for the summer and have no tools and little time (Working that 9-5). Anyways I'm in it for about 3800 bucks right now, 300 to get it registered, 900 at the shop (about 500 of that was labor ), and 150 for two front tires and am on a short budget for all the upgrades I want to do.
Things it needs now:
front rotors & pads
front u-joints
ball joints
bushings?
Needs the passenger mirror and fixing the power adjusting pad
driver side speaker doesn't work
fixing up the paint and a couple rust spots
Stuff I want to do:
(Recommend if you can)
4.5" lift - was thinking RE short arm kit??
shocks?? - bilstein?
tires - I want to go 33's - whats a good set?
wheels - Something cheap
bushwacker flats - Super expensive though
tinting the windows
ZJ front seats - maybe back seats too depending on height change
If anyone is around the southwest CT area and wouldn't mind throwing a helping hand I would really appreciate it. I'm pretty handy, but new to cars in general and especially jeeps. Done breaks and rotors and changed the oil on cars, but thats about it. Dad is buying me some tools for the 21st... couldn't be a better present. Glad to find this site and hopefully we can all have some fun.
