I got the xj from a older couple in there mid 70s and the gentleman told me everything was stock and from the looks of everything under it it does look to be factory....? Why you thinking its a Chevy case?

It could be a factory t-case. Just kinda an odd one to have. Most have the 231.

As far as an axle swap goes, there isn't many good options for the front unless you go full width. That waggy 44 would be the best possible option for a front end swap.. You could use the dodge one if you built a doubler >

I have dana300 t-case I could run that and run the dodge axle cause i cut it down on the passengers side to be the same width as a tj, xj, or yj so I could run that, but damn that is a LOT of changing things just to do a axle swap

The dana300 will bolt right up to the ax-4 so that is no problem but the Dana 44 has 3link set up welded to it right now from a buggy build, but plasma cutter can fix that

Alright. Let's be serious here. You bought this jeep for $400, and have the opportunity to make it BAD MO F'IN A! I'd love to see it. Just sayin.

"I miss my 2005LJ rubicon my goal is to make a family rig that I can go and safely play with my 14month old son!!! He loves jeeps and points at everyone we pass (xj, yj, wj, cj, tj, and most defiantly the LJs!!!)"

I do plan on making this a toy and a occasional daily driver, I also have the gas saver 2014 Nissan Versa Note S (and no S is not for sport it is for SLOW) it does get 48mpg on the highway and 35-38 around town depending on how I drive it because it is a standard...
