Hey guys just picked up an xj today from a private dealer for $1,750 running driving stopping and only a very minor valve cover leak (knock on wood) rides great. Brakes need work for sure she dose not look the best but hasnt failed to start up yet (knock on wood). This is my first day with her interiors trashed but a little cleaning makes it somewhat livable only somewhat because the smell is godawful inside!! Has the dimming issues when the healdights are on the lights inside go really dim with the **** at max. I had to replace the rear hatch struts and buy a new air filter. Whats good preventive maintenance on these after you buy a fairly used one (151,xxx)?

 

Welcome! I'm also from Ohio, what year is it? Flush the crap out of the cooling system several times. Change all the fluids.

that's the first thing I would start with. Then things like the brakes, go through the electrical, fuel injectors. I had to replace my head and block so every xj is different.

 

Another ? I noticed the 98 sports have cruise on the wheel well mine does not it's a lever underneath the turn signal is this correct for the year ?

Put up a lot more photos in my gallery. Took me 2 days to sweep and scrub the interior, 15 hours of cleaning in the interior and I am still not done yet, its still not the prettiest had to install an aftermarket radio because the oem one stopped receiving antenna signal, but all the speakers work amazingly!!
