Exclamation New guy to Jeep family

Hello all! East Coaster checking in here. New to this forum not to forums in general. I picked up this '93 Cherokee Country about 2 months ago after my other beater (Kia sportage) literally rusted away. It is a fun car to drive but is showing it's age. Being that she is 20 years old.

Like I said she is showing her age. About a month ago the starter crapped out on me. Then a week later the exhaust fell off past the catalytic converter. This past week I just changed the radiator, thermostat. The hoses were in good shape and the waterpump looked like it had been changed recently as well as the serpentine belt. I have an oil pressure sending unit (gauge is reading 80+) and will be changing that along with spark plugs and valve cover gasket this weekend. Then it will be onto my suspension. This might be over my head of expertise. It just doesn't drive right. I hit a pothole and you feel it! The whole car sounds like it is about to fall apart. I also have a knocking noise coming from the suspension i believe. It sounds like it may be u joints but it happens all times not just while turning. Can anyone suggest what to look for? Other than that its been a great car. Just hoping to get this suspension taken care of as it is making the ride someone horrible.

As for my previous cars. I had a Santorin blue Audi A6 and then sold that for an '05 Audi A4 where I got into the show car scene. I since then parted and sold her in my quest for my next big thing and picked up the Kia in the mean time.

That is all I can think of for now.

Welcome to the forum man! It does not look all that bad cosmetically.

As for the knocking, it could be alot of things the first 3 I would check (as they are the most common culprits on mine)are:
1. Ball Joints
2.Tie Rod ends
3. Track bar bushing

You can check and see what is loose by jacking up the front end and wiggling the tires and or putting a big pry bar under the tire and rock it back and forth. Also have somebody turn your wheel back and forth while you watch the underside. Some of the components are real easy to change and some (ball joints) can be a giant pain. There are alot of great threads on this site to help you out (if you feel you are in too deep).

Welcome once again!

Sounds good! I will look into them this weekend and report back in the tech area.
