Default new to the forums + owning a jeep

my name is mike, i just got a 96 cherokee country its 2 wheel drive and automatic, it has 31x10.50 tires i plan on doing a 3 inch lift and some kind of limited slip, ive been lurking around on here the past week trying to find good info so when i ask a question i dont sound like a dumbass lol..

its going to be my dd so when i start looking for a limited slip i would like something like the eaton thats smooth i dont really want to get a locker my girl is gonna be driving it too, i dont want her to worry about noises lol..

but i have a few questions, i just got it today and it passed smog no problem, but the temp goes above 210 when im sitting, but it doesnt get that close to the white line before the red, i made a mistake also, it had rusty water so i flushed it out and put coolant, and then put a 160 thermostat and ive read that that was a bad idea, so i went out and bought another 195 thermo to put back in tomorrow..

but even with the 160 the temps still go up when sitting, it isnt loosing coolant and there isnt any bubbles in the radiator when its running, but my fan shroud on the top is busted, the lower half is there, but im gonna try and find that and im also replacing the fan clutch tomorrow as well..

ive owned now dont laugh too hard lol, honda's my whole life, pretty much never had a truck, ive been into street racing mountain driving racing at the track ive built probably 35-40 different honda's not including mine, but im getting tired of the rep i get driving them, and the b/s with the cops and all the theft, im almost 30 its time to grow up and get out of the kid crap lol

but other then that im a newbie to jeeps and not really to offroading but ive never had my own truck but driven plenty of friends out in ocotillo

other then the temp problem, it also has a oil pressure problem, the guage is pegged all the time even with the key off, ive been researching on how to fix it, it already looks like they replaced the sending unit but i dont really know... the jeep has 221k on it runs great its immaculate ive been wanting to get a cherokee for a long time, just been into the racing scene too much but finally snapped out of it..

heres some pics, crappy at night, ill get some more tomorrow

You could have air trapped behind the t-stat. When re-installing the correct t-stat drill a 1/16" hole in the top to let air pass through. The PO might have installed an oil sending unit for the light rather than for the gauge, or the gauge could be bad. JMO

okay so today i put the 195 thermostat in it seems better but still getting hot, so i put a new fan clutch in and that helped alot, except the fact that i broke what was left of my damn fan shroud so i gotta find one tomorrow, but it is a hell of a lot better...

also got more pics was inspecting the jeep today, it has some sort of coil spacer on it i never seen that before but it will work till i get a lift i guess, also im not sure but it feels like it has a limited slip rear end, i took it on some trails today and went up some bumpy hills, and it sounded like it broke traction for a second then started gripping, i was putting up them like 5mph with no problem at all, how can i find out if mine came stock with a limited slip?

heres some new pics from today

heres how hot it was getting before the fan clutch install

and the coil spacer what do u guys think of this?

Oh yeah, I've seen those coil spacers at Autozone. Never seen in action or had any feedback from anyone who actually used them. Cannot believe that they do anything decent for your ride or handling. All I can think is they spread your springs a create an area of non-absorption. Be interesting to measure, pull them off, then remeasure ride height.

Welcome from the UK. I had the same oil pressure pegged issue when I got mine. Went to the junk yard and swapped them. Works like it should now.
