New to Cherokee's in pa
Hello all.
A little background
I have owned cjs/tjs and ljs but with a family of 4( me /wife/10 yr old daughter and 4 yr old son) the lj just is a pita to get a kid in a seat in and out of.
We do trails hiking camping geo caching and light expedition style travels. I sat down and did some evaluating and decided I needed 4 doors and enough room for the daughter to bring a friend when we camp. This limited me in the world of jeeps. I couldn't bring myself to be a cookie cutter and do a jk.
They are too big for me, the cost of aftermarket stuff is crazy, and the thought of soccer moms everywhere waving to me was over the top
So this left me with the Cherokee, being 1/8 Cherokee myself this seemed fitting. We could fit the kids and a friend the dog in the back and pull my expo'ish trailer to camp with. And they still feel more like a real jeep then the jk to me(IMHO)
So I am on the hunt as we speak for a 99 ish that isn't beat on with at least an auto cruise and power windows.
I am looking at a rustys 4.5" long arm with all the fixings front and rear bumpers lockers and new shaft disc break the rear, put it on 33" duratracs with a xfer case skid and some steering box re enforcing plates odds and ends armor then go wheel to see what else I want from there.
SO not new to jeeps but I will be to the Xj so don't beat me too much if I ask a noob question or two.
I'll be browsing builds to see what are the essential add ons for xj's and hoping to run into some of you out there

we might have to do some meet ups maybe a rc run sometime guys.
I just moved back from Utah and I do miss it for the wheeling. But after a year of staring at nothing but red rock you go a bit snow blind, so the trees are a nice change
