Default New Cherokee Owner

Hi - new Jeep Cherokee XJ owner here. Last week I picked up a 1999 Cherokee Limited. Look forward to learning more about the XJ's. Here are a few pics. First is from the CL f/s advertisement:

That rocker restoration looks solid! Did you do it yourself? If you hired someone, how did you choose them?

How will you approach the passenger side holes? If you will follow any reference or guide please share.

Hi - I'm doing the repairs myself. Living in the rust belt, I'm no stranger to dealing with this sort of rust / rot.

For the passenger side, I cut 90% of the outer rocker away and cleaned up the inner rocker with grinder / various wire wheels:

It's amazing how easliy all the debris got caught in this area over the years....

After clean up, I hit it with rust encapsulator from Eastwood.

Next step will be:
1) paint the inner rocker with a heavy coat of rustoleum
2) fit the new metal (bought from c2c) to fill the void.
3) weld / grind / smooth with filler
