Need Help with My New Addiction
Greetings from Colorado!
I wasn't kidding when I said "addiction". I actually find myself staring at my XJ and wondering what I can work on next. I'm not that good at stuff yet but I am figuring out how to bust the rust loose and make mods.
I need some help tho.
I have a 2001 XJ and have removed the thick fabric material from underneath the engine compartment. It is like a spray skirt. It ripped. What is that thing called and who sells a replacement?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome!
The part you are referring to is the 'splash guard' #55174736
Most people take them off but I prefer it installed. Coupled with a steering skid they keep sand, salt, mud and debris out of the engine bay.
My old XJ did not have one and I would end up with sand all over the engine bay including on the valve cover!
Here is a pic of my 1996 engine compartment. It has had the splash guard since new.

That's what I'm looking for - thanks Steve. Agree with you on keeping as much dirt out of the engine compartment as I can.
And for double the points - what is the name of the one-time fasteners that hold the splash guard up?

Not sure what the name is, but I find them at the hardware store in 'automotive fasteners'. Various sizes. Usually in the pull-out drawers in nut and bolt aisle. Also at all the auto stores of course.
As for the splash guard, I got one from CSE Offroad a few years ago. Try a google search of the part number for other vendors. Will cost about $40.
