Need help choosing new XJ
I am lookin at buy a 91 xj 4wd 5 spd needs a clutch it's lifted 4.5 inches for 2400 but got to put clutch in and it's a 4.0 here's the specs
1991 Jeep Cherokee Sport (XJ)
2 Door
4.0 Inline 6
K&N Air Intake
4.5 Inch Rusty's Lift
BFG All Terrains (33x12.5R15) at at around 65% on 3 & 90% on 1
Brand new aftermarket suspension link kit (makes for a super stable ride)
5 Speed Manual Transmission
Fuel Injected
4X4 in great working condition
Rebuilt rear axle (Dana 35)
Aftermarket stereo faceplate with female 3.5mm port
Brand new waterpump & thermostat
New belt & hoses
Recent oil change with a new filter
1998 jeep Cherokee
4x4 (Dana 35/30 NP231)
2.5L 4cyl (stock 4:11 gears)
2 door, 5spd (nv3500)
Body in great shape, no rust, small dent in rear hatch, paint is good
Motor/transmission/clutch replaced @ 183k, currently showing 207,XXX
New pinion seals
New Goodyear tires on the front, will need rears in 1kmi
Aluminum Crager wheels 15x6 I believe
Headliner is realtree camo, was falling and I used what I had
New kicker 6.5" components all around
New Sony headunit cd/mp3/iPod/USB/am,fm etc...
New alpine powered sub/amp/box combo
Interior is in great shape
New battery (3yr free replacement)
New alternator (lifetime just need to use my phn #)
New belt
A/C blows 38* when it's 95+ outside (new A/c compressor)
Heats works very well too
4wd works with no issues
Which one yal think?? Red one isn't lifted and 4 cylinder but needs nothing black one has more done and needs work and more expensive 2400 for black 2300 for red any opinions?

Welcome.
If you're mechanically inclined pick up the black one. It has more done to it and has the 4.0 as well. You can't go wrong there.

The 4-cyl doesn't have the needed torque for the weight of the Cherokee, and you'll be using it in the higher RPM's just to get around. Plus that's a lot of miles for that little engine, having pulled all that weight around. It's probably getting ready for a rebuild, unless it's already been done.
The 4.0L's extra power will get nearly the same MPG's because it can run at lower RPM's. These engines run a long time, and have a great history of durability.
I'd get the black one if it were me. JMO

Two thoughts:
1. $2400 is too much for "needs clutch"
2. 65% tread is code for bald.
But if you buy it I'll give you $20 for one of those bald tires I can use as a spare. Thanks.
