Don't buy the 4 cylinder. 4.0 all the way.

Welcome.

If you're mechanically inclined pick up the black one. It has more done to it and has the 4.0 as well. You can't go wrong there.

finding a 5speed 2door is rare and by getting the 2.5 you only gain 1-2mpg it's not worth the loss in power buy the 4.0

The 4-cyl doesn't have the needed torque for the weight of the Cherokee, and you'll be using it in the higher RPM's just to get around. Plus that's a lot of miles for that little engine, having pulled all that weight around. It's probably getting ready for a rebuild, unless it's already been done.
The 4.0L's extra power will get nearly the same MPG's because it can run at lower RPM's. These engines run a long time, and have a great history of durability.
I'd get the black one if it were me. JMO

Two thoughts:

1. $2400 is too much for "needs clutch"
2. 65% tread is code for bald.

But if you buy it I'll give you $20 for one of those bald tires I can use as a spare. Thanks.
