Default My first Jeep!!!

Hey all!
I just got my first Jeep (97 XJ) about a week ago after searching for one for quite a while. Looking forward to having fun with it and gradually modding it.. I'd like to know if there's anything I should do right away. Like a must have (or must check) for a (relatively) stock used XJ. I bought it from an older guy who said the fluids are fresh and it has (he thinks) a 4 inch lift (is there any obvious way to check this?). The tires are 235/75/R15. It has a short ram intake and dynomax exhaust aswell. I'm not sure what forums are good for XJ but this seems to be a pretty good one!

Maybe its just me but that dont look like 4" of lift. Look under it and see what type springs, control arms, shocks etc.

No way that has 4" of lift! 235/75's are stock tires anyway, you'd definitely be able to tell.

You most likely have a budget boost. But anyway, nice Jeep and welcome to the forum.

I agree 1.5-2" looks right.

Yeah he wasn't sure about it, and I'm new to Jeeps so I don't know either. How would I even tell if it has a budget boost or if it's totally stock? I took a quick look under it the other day and didn't see anything that stood out. Anyways might just enjoy it for a while and do a proper lift later on.

BTW I've since used trim shine on the grey pieces to bring them back to their original black color and it looks much better. I also have to re-tape the trim to the drivers door..

A way to check for a BB is to look at your coil springs. Look at the top of them and see if there is a piece that looks almost like a kockey puck sitting on top of them. As for the Rear, look at the shackles. Or look under the leaf springs connecting to the axle to see if they are sitting on blocks.
