So im getting my first jeep. 1997 Cherokee Laredo. Forest Green, auto, stock. 226k for 1000$. The only problem he stated was that when its cold it kicks through gears but when warm it is fine. i looked this up and i could be something about the filter. also im gonna dolly/trailer it home and run my jetta till snow its to bad sine insurance on the jeep is about 25$ more a month for me, how would i go about dollying it? rear wheels on the dolly and just put a steering wheel lock bar on it and take it easy? its about 50miles from where i live.

Welcome to CF. Sounds like a great deal. If it were me I'd use a flat bed trailer and get all 4 tires off the ground. Oh well. You didn't say whether it was 4X4 or 2 wheel drive. If it's 4X4, after getting the FRONT wheels on the dolly and strapped down, put the transfer case in neutral, and the transmission shifter in neutral. Leave the key in the ignition in the unlocked off position.
Regarding the 2" lift, the cheapest way is to use spacers in the front and extended shackles in the rear because the Cherokee's a uni-body vehicle and you can't do a body lift as it doesn't have a separate frame. >http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ode=sus_xj_kit
