Looking
Hey all, I am new to the forum and I am looking for my first Cherokee, it has to be a 5-speed. I lost my foot 4 years ago in a motorcycle accident and Jeeps are the only clutch that I have no problems with my prosthetic, which is why I am trying to find one now.
I have loved Cherokee's for years and my family works at the plant that makes many of the Chrysler transfer cases so they would all love if I were to get a 4X4 Jeep.

Welcome!
quick question, why a 5 speed?
My father is a die hard manual transmission guy and I believe I may finally have convinced him that the AW4 in these cherokees is a good thing to have... you can do alot of modification since they are controlled by solenoids between 1-4 and you can set up a seperate stick (switch controller) to keep them locked in any of the 4 gears, even control the locking torque converter...
when weeling, most guys with a manual set up a hand throttle since both feet are busy with the clutch and brake... I have seen alot of guys wheeling with a manual and they stall ALL the time, always having to start thier rig over and over. If your worried about not being able to rock it when your stuck, the extra shifter I mentioned above is great because it locks in whatever gear selected and when you shift from R to D it will always go back to that gear, besides, if you are stuck you should always have a buddy and recovery gear, not usually an issue....
The AW4 (auto) is bullet proof, I would highly recommend it in a cherokee!! just because it works GREAT as a wheeler.

I am sure that an auto would be easier, but as I said Jeep's are the only manual cars I can drive without any modification. I am most likely not going off road all that much so I am not worried about how the trans will perform. I just want to be able to drive a 5-speed again without have to change my foot so I can reach the clutch.
