I bought my Black 99 XJ sport with 103,000 miles in May, and have been taking little steps to get it back into prime condition since then. I don't have any work space other than the alley behind my apartment, but I have all the tools from my days of having a garage so I can still get it done.

I am not really knowledgeable on auto mechanics, but am pretty mechanically inclined. I've enjoyed working on this XJ thoroughly, and can't wait to do other tougher projects. I'm getting into the water pump and rest of the cooling system in September, then by December I hope to have the suspension back to new condition. The roof is also in fairly poor shape, and needs to be re-painted before winter really kicks in. Working in the alley has its challenges so we'll see how much of this I can get done, but I have big dreams right now.

I also want to say the wealth of knowledge on these forums is ridiculous. When I bought my XJ I'm pretty sure the previous owner thought he was getting one over on me because of the Jeep's "transmission issue" which I already knew from doing my research here was likely nothing but a bad TPS - which happened to be correct. Saved me a good amount of money I also know a zillion times more about cooling systems, suspension, etc than I ever knew before I started reading these forums as I shopped for a Cherokee.

So, a big thank you to all the knowledgeable posters here and I'm glad to finally register
