Default KJ guy just got an XJ in VA

Hey guys, my name is Tomme and I recentle sold off one of my KJs to buy my wife an XJ. I have had a few other XJ's (as well as other Jeeps-see signature) in the past but never really did any mods to them.

The XJ I got is a 1990 Laredo with a BDS 3 inch lift and some 31X10.50 BFG All Terrains (the Wheels and tires on it will be sold because I have a brand new set of Goodyear Duratracs that are going on it) So far I have sanded down the horrible paint and shot it with flat black and am in the process of rewiring the entire dash as someone really fubared that up in the past. I look forward to learning from you guys as like I said i am a KJ guy.

What she looked like the day I bought her (this is the good side the other side is 10x worse lol):

and here is the KJ "Cherokee" (as it is called everywhere in the world except here) that I sold to get the XJ. I took everything off of it before I sold it though and have an unmolested KJ that I am installing all of the goodies on as we speak:

Thanks. I also painted the taillights so they look more like the Wagoneer taillights:

Welcome man. I also have (2) cherokees. Both are lifted a 96 with 6.5" lift on 33x12.50's and the other a 99 has a 5" lift on 32x11.50's , and I got my wife a 04 Liberty Renegade model also silver in color like the one you posted. Man I liked how you had that KJ id love to set up my wifes like that. I see in your location your from norfolk/ carova beach. We actually go to Carova beach and stay a week in a beach house every year. We love it down there.

okay well I have done quite a bit of work since I last posted so I figured I would update this thread. First and foremost was a major Tune-Up and I replaced the fuel pump assembly (to fix the faulty gauge) Then I basically rewired the entire truck from headlight to taillight (someone really hacked the wiring in this thing) I also tightened the torque converter bolts (thanks to the info on I found here!) Next I sold the wheels and tires that came with it and installed the stock KJ wheels (painted Graphite) and Duratracs that were on my wifes KJ. I had to buy some 1.5 inch wheel spacer because of the backspacing of the factory KJ wheels but this is what my wife wanted:

Then I got some NOS Jeep Keys (but I think I will look into swapping to a newer 1 key setup):

Then installed a 97-01 header panel/grille/lights to update the looks some:

and last week I nixed the crappy metal broken early mirrors for the newer folding plastic 97-01 mirrors:
