Hi guys just picked up an 88 for my daily driver today. I really dont drive far so that is a plus im hoping. The wife is not pleased. I got rid of my little commuter car for this rig. its an 88 4.0 with a 5 spd. mechanically it seems to be pretty sound. the interior is ok other than it has the wrong center console its from an AT rig and its the wrong color. looks like it had a rear swinging tire carrier on there at one time. all that remains is the mounting holes. Also the brake lights arent working. I noticed under the dash that the switch has some sort of wire attached to it for whatever purpose. But either way its not getting getting depressed with the pedal. other than that i think i did ok. the wife is very angry with me but hopefully no major breakdowns soon and it will be ok.

thanks for the welcomes. The first trip out to the salvage yard proved fruitful today. so im in good spirits.

 

Alittle late, but welcome all the same. I just bought an 88 myself, awesome rigs imo. Pick-n-Pull helped me alot as well. Going after little stuff like screws and sending units and such.....need to stock up for sure

 

I actually found about 6 of them in the local yard. But i was after console trim pieces today. and they only had 2 of them that were 5spd that really cut into the options i had. I need to find myself a rear gate still but Im in no hurry.

welcome to the forum...I just got my 95 three weeks ago....my wife has been gone for a week and I did a bunch of stuff while she was gone...lol....she is going to be impressed on how long I drive with no repairs
