Introduction.. from NC
Hey guys, just figured I'd register and introduce myself since I'll be lurking around the forums for a bit.
Names Jared, I'm a mechanic in the Army. Stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Been one of those shade tree mechanics since I could lift a wrench.. Now-days I tend to do things the right way and with the right tools, but I generally do everything myself.
I don't personally own an XJ.. But my wife owns a 96 Jeep Cherokee! Lol.. I would like to get into some off-road action.. but the wife hates it when I do any off-roading with her jeep!! LOL I do enjoy some AWD action though:
My weapon of choice is my 06 Evo IX. Just got a few things done to it, put down 330awhp on a dynojet. So it's pretty fun. Basically just joined the site to learn some things about the XJ since I plan on doing a small lift and giving the cherokee some new rims/tires, and just generally fixing it up.
Not new to forums at all, in fact I'm a die hard DSMTuner and EvolutionM guy.. As well as a ClubRSX and CarolinaDSM member as well. Just looking for some friendly advice and answers to some questions when I need them.
Usually use the search button first, and I found the answer to a couple question I had (clunking when enabling 4wd.. probably a u-joint). Going to look up some information on lift kits and tire choices.. but I did have two questions I wanted to throw in here:
Anyone possibly have a Haynes manual available to download?
And what are some good reputable sites to purchase from in the XJ world?
Ah.. onto another note: Currently deployed to Afghanistan, so unfortunately I can't just run out at the moment and fix things even though I would like to.. And I could only find one picture of the jeep stored on my computer.. and most of it is hidden by the Evo, lol.
Anyway I'll be around and hopefully you guys can help me out when I'm around!
Only pic I could find, terrible picture, sorry!
I'll see if I can get the wife to send a picture or two

I actually just got to Bragg in January. PCS'd from Kaiserslautern, Germany. But prior to that I was ARNG stationed at 694th Maintenance in New Bern, NC. Born in Raleigh, grew up in NC pretty much my whole life (New Bern, Bridgeton, Vanceboro~ areas). I was at my unit for like 2 weeks.. then I was at NTC.. did a month there.. went back to the unit and two weeks later on a bird to Afghanistan, lol. Second deployment, not too bad I suppose. Stationed up in RC North @ DD2.
Nobody has any access to those Cherokee haynes manuals? About to order one but I didn't want to wait the 2 weeks it takes to ship to me, lol
