Default Howdy! From Massachusetts.

Hi
I have been looking for a Jeep community for a while. I have loads of questions about what to do with my Jeep now that I have had it for quite some time.
I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee 60th Anniversary Edition. There is a badge that says so on my fender, not sure if that means allot but from what I have learned so far there is not much difference between mine and any other XJ from the same year. Engine is a 4.0 Litre inline six. Auto Transmission, Black with Grey Interior. Everything is stock and I have not done any extra work or mods to it except for the usual oil changes and tire replacement. It has around 240,000 miles and still runs strong! I plan on keeping it forever.

However it has been stolen three times and I have had to get repairs for those incidents which resulted in about 3000$ worth of work in the past year, I won't go into the details but it runs well now.

The issues I have now are both minor and severe.

Minor issues:
Broken rear wiper switch on lower dash. Wipers still work but switch doesn't click.
Windshield wiper fluid pump broken. Not sure if I have two for front and rear, or if both are shot. I reckon I will just replace both. Found a good vid on Youtube about replacing them.
Going to have a rough time taking out the fender shroud to get at them.

Some Major issues:
Engine hood has trouble closing securely. I have to let it slam shut.
Engine compartment needs a good cleaning.
I have an oil leak somewheres.
Engine light is on and the meter states I need to replace the catalytic converter. actually I need to replace the entire exhaust as I have not had to do so since I have had the vehicle.
Rust!
Drivers side door is getting bad. Bottom of the door and hinges. Not sure if I would be able to replace door or just the outer skin and hinges then get it painted. It looks like I have rust throughout the floor as well. This will determine if I can really keep it forever or if I am looking at a major amount of work and cost.

Sorry for the wall of text. I don't need any answers right away as I can look through this forum for them. I figure I would list my concerns and maybe get a few comments.

Looking forward to searching this forum.

Oh right, if anyone around the western Mass area knows of a Jeep club or group. It would be great to get to know some folks as I am new to the area. Just moved up here within the past year.

Thanks
Shawn

Welcome to CherokeeForum!

If you post the questions in the proper place, you will get a ton of answers!
For example, if you are having an issue with something that came with it from the factory, you would post in OEM tech.

As for the clubs, Check out the "wheeling neighborhoods" section.

There is not nearly as many who frequent this section.

Welcome again! It is rare to see that many miles out of a 2000+ as they have a crack-prone 0331 head. Your maintenance routine must be great!

Thanks for the welcome. I have already found several posts with the same things I need to address on my Jeep. Really happy I found this forum.
