howdy howdy
Just popping in to do the standard FNG intro. After years and years of not having an xj (had a 92 a long time ago), i picked up another one the other day. 400 bucks out the door for an 89 that needed some TLC.
Tossed in a new radiator, thermo, water pump, serp belt, front brakes, and rear brakes (which I'd never done before but were not too hard at all). Also threw on a new valve cover gasket, did the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
Also ran down to the local bone yard and snagged a new coolant reservoir (mine was leaking like a siv) and a whole bunch of those little retaining clippy screwy into thingys for the grill. Also snagged new corner lenses and turn signal lenses, cuz mine were cracked and looking like a toothless bum.
Now, the last thing to work on is the 4wd. Gotta vacuum issue that we've narrowed down to those shoddy fisher price my first rubber connector set, that chrysler decided to use to connect the vaccum lines together. Horrible design, and most of it seems extremely pointless. Way too many connections for a system that is that curcial to the functionality of the 4wd.
So, hello, my names brandon...

Thanks thanks! Fixed the 4wd last night by replacing those stupid as sin rubber boot thingys. Im still amazed at how shoddy and ill thought out those things are. Im still unsure as to why they didnt just make one long connection or maybe just tow connections out of sturdier material.
Either way, the entire beast is up and running strong. 258k on her and still spinnnin like a top. Gotta fix some door lock issues and throw on a rear bumper, but thats all easy stuff.
If the ole girl makes it through the winter, I think i may toy with the idea of throwin a lift on her. We'll see. Sure is fun to wrench on her, thats for sure. Although... lol... seized bolts can suck a fat nut.. haha.
