I have 1989 jeep wagoneer ltd 4.0 with 217,000 miles and I just change the Fuel filter due to it jerking and stopping.. I also changes the spark plugs and air filter. It still does not run properly.. what could be the problem?? I think it might even be the catalytic converter which turned red hot while I was trying to start and keep running by pushing the accelerator...

 

Replace the cat and plug wires.Wires can cause the jerking if they are bad . Ihad this happen on more than 1 of my cars
