Default Hi guys from the UK

Hi from Jamz in Portsmouth UK

Thought id introduce myself as Im just getting a custom to the new motor..

I purchased a 1996 Grand Cherokee Ltd with Rough Country Shocks, full K&N with heat shield and running boards..

Love it

1 thing i noticed after a long drive..100miles+ after picking it up it had a grinding sound coming from the rear when pulling off, now am i correct in saying its prob the rear axle? The thing is the owner said that he had the rear axle refurbed.

Have no troubles around the town driving..10/20 miles for instance

Any Ideas?

welcome to the site any pictures of your Jeep? I would check your rear wheel bearings... or make sure your parking brake is disengaging..

Hi Rooster,

Yep il get some pix ASAP

Not sure it's the parking brake as it would happen when coming to a junction for instance of coming to a roundabout/junction off the motorway where I would have to stop completely.

Parking/hand brake wasn't used only obviously normal brakes.

Thing is I have no troubles driving it around the city, this was on a long run and happened all the time once I'd been driving it 70mph for around 80 miles ish, next morning around the town and it's fine

Welcome to CF. I'd take it in and have the rear axle cover removed and the ring and pinion gears checked out. Maybe they were set up wrong when they were rebuilt, and could be too tight, or too loose.
