Hello! a prospective XJ owner
I am preparing to buy my true first car, and have decided the XJ is what I want most. I adore its plain and boxy aesthetic. I also strongly desire to learn DIY maintenance, and its reputation for reliability and after-market parts is outstanding.
I'm a beginner at wrenching, so I have been browsing craigslist for something in the <$3k range that won't need too much major work right away. I also want to attempt mods such as extra anti-theft, a brush guard, etc. later on my own. I will need to expand my toolset, and meet people who I can learn from when a fix is way outside my my ability.
I know I will be returning here a lot, and I also want to be a great community member! Thank you for any encouragement and advice.

I'm also thinking about rigging extra anti-theft, and will attempt mods such as brush guard, lift, etc later on my own. I will need to expand my toolset, and meet people who I can learn from when a fix is way outside my my ability.
