I purchased my first Jeep today. I went to a friend's house to work on their AC and after I finished we were standing out in front of the garage talking. They had a 2001 Grand Cherokee 60th anniversary edition sitting in the drive looking pretty sad. They said it belonged to their son but he hadn't driven it in a few years and they were tired of looking at it...did I want to buy it? They said they started it up once in a while to keep the oil up and the battery charged. I asked what issues it had and they said there was a coolant leak, a power steering leak, and someone broke out the passenger side front window trying to see if there was anything worth stealing.. I asked how much they were asking and they said make them an offer, so I offered them $2000. They came back with $1750. It has just under 150,000 miles with a 4.7L V8. I've been looking for something to work on so I went ahead and bought it. The coolant leak was a small crack at the top of the radiator where the hose connects. I used a JB Weld radiator repair kit to fix it, and will replace the radiator with a 100% metal one in the future. I put some power steering fluid in the pump and started the rig up. Just above the radiator cooling fan is a power steering hose that was spewing all kinds of fluid so I shut it off. It's the hose that comes off the front of the pump and runs across, then down below the radiator, to a device that has three hoses connected to it. I'm going to have to do some searching to find the correct hose. Looks simple to replace as it's nutted on both ends. The window I can pick up at the local U Pull It, and since watching a YouTube video, I know it will be fairly simple to replace. It has aftermarket black rims, which I'm not fond of, so I'll eventually replace those with a set of original rims if I can find them for the right price. The spare has an original rim on it. A Sirius XM system was added and that will be coming out also. I'll add if few pictures. Hello again....
