Hello from Northern VA
After a lot of soul searching I am beginning to think that a new Cherokee Trailhawk makes more sense for me than a Wrangler so this forum caught my eye. I am a little concerned about the transmission issues however. Hopefully they will all be resolved with the 2016 model? Or maybe they are already resolved. I am just a newbie so what do I know.

Welcome! There is a section in this forum that is just for the KL and talks about the nine speed transmission issues. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f87/
Have you tried the manual seven speed? lol just kidding

Thanks. I did read the sticky and no offense but as a former moderator at more than a few non-auto forums, I would have deleted three fourths of the posts. But that's just me. Not very helpful. Having said, if the issue revolves around the tranny and it is systemic, there is no way that Chrysler/Fiat can let it continue. What would be helpful to the new members in particular, is what is the company's plan to correct? Will there be a tranny change for 2016? Is it a software issue? What has been C/F's response so far??

That just seems to be how off-road and jeep forums are. We are more tame here at CF.
I drive a 1996 and do not keep up with KL details. Here is what I have seen regarding the transmission. May be outdated by now.

Thanks but no updates on this in the forum?? What can we expect for 2016? I would think this is one of the biggest stories associated with the Cherokee and would be front and center. A lot of folks come here to learn more about the current models vs. the older. You can't drive a '96 forever. Cheers.

There are no similarities or anything in common other than a name.
My 96 is already outlasting some KL's. Maybe I will get a 99 in another five to ten years.
This forum is mostly dedicated to XJ and Commanche.
