Default Hello From the High Desert of California

My wife and I have started getting into desert exploration, hiking, and geocaching lately along with our two young daughters. There is a huge amount of ghost towns, abandoned mines, and natural wonders to explore within a few hours of where we live. Both in the desert around us and up in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I currently have a F-350 4x4 Super Duty. It does well on most roads, but it's massive size and weight sometimes causes issues. We realized while exploring Death Valley a few weeks ago that it is time for us to start looking for a more capable and smaller 4x4. I have had friends and family with Cherokees and they all liked them. For now we are still looking for the right one so I wanted to start doing research on finding the best one for us.

For now I'm sure I'll just be browsing the forums looking for the information I'll need to make a wise purchase.

Welcome to CF! We have a few desert rats around here. Used to live in Victomville (Victorville) myself.

Sure an Xj will be a great choice for exploring those trails. Good luck with the decision
