Default Hello from central California

I am a volunteer search and rescue K9 handler in central California. My Suzuki SX/4 just is not big enough for all my gear and my dogs gear. And forget about sleeping in it. So I pick up a 1987 Cherokee Laredo for $500 to be my search vehicle. It spent part of its life as a tow vehicle behind an RV. Other than the wiring for the towing it looks like it is stock (other than the wheels). It has the 4.0L, AW4, NP242, Dana 44@3:54 rearend, tow package, factory skid plates, power windows and locks. The body is in great shape, interior is OK.

It suffered the dreaded leaking fuel injector issue and the previous owner caught the top of the engine on fire. It melted the wiring harness and all the vacuum lines across the top of the motor. Hence the cheap price.

I have already picked up a set of 703 injectors and rebuild kits (need to find time to do the rebuilds). I stripped the wiring harness out of another, newer, Cherokee and am part way through splicing the wiring harness back together. Once I get it back up and running we will see where we are at.

Day 1.

Dang that's good solid vehicle base to start out with. Because it's a renix. I would suggest you to run Volvo 746 injectors. And please check out Cruiser54.com for mostly renix tips.

Thanks. I have already visited Cruiser54.com. Lots of good information there. I will be working through his list of improvements and recommendations.

Why the 746 injectors? I know there are other options than the 703's but most information I found said they were the best option for a plug and play upgrade.

703's are better suited for 91-98 engines... A couple of members with renix engines here decided to experiment and try out other injectors and found that Volvo 746's performed better. 703's tend to run slightly richer on renix. (That's what I have read about it).
