I figured I better get with the people who know how to fix em' up. Not that much really wrong with mine besides a couple rust holes in the rear door and front wheel wells................ and it's stock still.
So, I'll be lurking around here now.
At this point my plans for by next summer include some fender flares, a 2" lift and probably 31" tires just to make it look better. Someday I may do more.
I just got done reconditiong the wheels and Reese hitch. New tires on the way.
Here's a couple pics.
EDIT: it's a 1993 with 105,000 gentle miles.

Thanks guys.
Going to be trying to bondo the holes in the back door this week I think. They're a real eye-sore.
Looking forward to being a Jeep driver for a long time.
I don't really need a super rock climber, but I intend to make it into a fairly capable 4-wheel machine. Gotta be able to get over a tree or get yourself unstuck now and then.

Fortunately, I happen to have my uncles very expensive wire-feed MIG welder in my workshop along with a cutting torch and stuff.
Unfortunately, my welding skills are not that high and not recently practiced, I've only used a stick welder......and my uncle is in New Mexico, but he will coach me over the phone.
What's the worst that could happen?
-End up with a ****ty looking repair job instead of rust holes....that's what the bondo is for.
TIME TO LEARN THE ART OF FABRICATION
EDIT: I looked around here for 5 minutes and I am definitely building my own front and rear bumpers. It's in my blood

I bought it for $1600. Runs great, was babied by my friends grandfather then his mother since it was new. Too bad they didn't wash it decent in the winter. Cleaning up the front underneath now.....it's not as bad as I thought.

I spent the last 2 days under the Jeep ball peen hammering, chiseling, scrubbing, and scraping off 17 years worth of corrosion. No eggageration, probably 10 pounds of corrosion removed.
I pretty much got everywhere besides under the exhaust and I'll do that when it gets replaced. I sprayed on 11 cans of black rust preventive paint. 13 counting the 2 used for the rims.
The pictures don't really do it justice, but I'll still share them.
The jeep is sweet now, I can't wait to get some tires on it...............................and a new exhaust, but this one works

Those white letters you see are very worn out 225/75R/15s. They were on the back for approximately the last 10 years. I have 235s ordered. Should look better.

First of i would like to say welcome, this is a great sight to learn some stuff
and second off, i dont want to be a douche or nothing but
in my 8 yrs of welding i have never seen a wire feed TIG welder
TIG, is when u have a tungsten and filler rod to weld and u use a foot pedal to control it
MIG, is the welder that feeds the wire through what (i describe as the welding gun) by a push button on the handle
now if someone with way more years want to correct me if i am wrong please do
but all in all, welcome to the forum

Yes, I meant to go back and correct that. Thanks.
So you think it's doable? I plan to find some thin stock to practice on.
