Got my first Cherokee from Tx
Hey yall, names Gray. I just picked up my first cherokee, been wanting one forever.
its an 84 4 dr. 4x4 with the 2.8, had a cracked flexplate, parts are on order. Eventually itll get a built 3.4 swap... or a diesel...
Plan of attack is new flexplate, junkyard lift, got a set of 31x10.50 buckshots. stock wheels for now, trim the fenders, custom bumpers, removable doors, fab a set of tube doors, roof rack, cut out the rockers and replace with some 2x6, eventually it will get bigger and better but im keeping it low budget for now.
I am doing all the work myself, I am a diesel technician and this aint my first rodeo with building a vehicle. Im primarily a chevy guy, I cant own a ford or a dodge, or anything foreign. Ive always had a soft spot for jeeps, dads got a cj5 were putting a small block chevy in currently.
Im in East Tx, Tyler area, If theres any other fellow jeepers around here let me know, Id love to hit up some trails or just wrench on stuff!
Any suggestions, things I should do, let me know, like I said, this is my first cherokee!
heres a few pics of the 'Kee, not bad for 400$
And here are some of my other rigs
87 chevy, swapped in a 12 valve cummins with 5 speed. Its a pulling beast
and my last 4x4 build, first pic is when i got it, then when it was done.
84 gmc swb, 350/700r, 6" lift, 36s, cold a/c, 7mpg.
70 chevy, been in family since new, sat 28 years, 54k miles
Im glad to be here, looks like a good site, thanks for lookin
