How’s it going all y’all? I bought a 96 Cherokee country. My first Cherokee but not my first jeep. I’ve had a cj, yj and a TJ so a lot of familiar stuff with the xj compared to the tj. Got one kid still at home and her and the wife like to go and we never had enough room in the other jeeps with the back seat installed and I don’t see dropping the amount of cash that any of the 4 door jk’s bring for something I’m going to use seriously off road. Not knocking anyone who does I just like the stuff I’m going to Offroad to be just rough enough not to fret about scratching or small dents etc.
Any way so far the xj has a little over 200,000 but runs like a top. I have a low mileage spare 4.0 for backup. It’s had a ax15 swap done. Dana 30 with wj knuckles, iro steering, Yukon chromo axles, 4.56 gears electric locker, 8.25 rear 4.56 29 spline shafts disk brakes and electric locker. It has a 3 inch lift but I’m going to metal cloak 4.5 springs and likely a shackle relocate. Very little rust. Mainly was in floor pans but I replaced all the floor pans. Cut fenders with 33x10.50 razr mt’s. Old ramsey patriot 9500. More stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting like the Barnes steering brace etc.
near future stuff included new floor insulation and vinyl flooring. Custom long arm 4 link using iron man fab cross member, other stuff etc.
Been lurking her a while and look forward to meeting others and learning cool stuff. I’m in the Kc Mo area so if you see a moss green 96 on 33x10.50 razr’s probably me. Wave or say hi. I’m always looking to talk off road stuff, jeep stuff or hunting fishing whatever.
