Default factory fog lamps

So i was looking under the hood of my 2000 xj and i noticed that there was a wire that looks like it went to the fog lights because it by my headlight plugs but my xj didn't come with fog lights.. does that mean i can put factory fog lights in with the switch and relays and they will be good to go?

Look in the power distribution panel under the hood. Find the fuse and relay sockets where the fog lights would go. If there is wiring in those spots and you have the plugs on both sides where the fog lights would be, then yes theoretically you can add them. Also look behind the switch panel in the cab and see if there is an unused wiring harness. Then all you have to do is get the switch, lights, and switch panel for three switches.

Yes there is a unused wiring harness behind the panel and I have the spots for the fuses. So all I need is the relays and the lights and switch and it will work with the wiring that is there because some people say that it won't work with them?

If you do not have any existing wiring for fog lights, use the diagram below. My '00 didn't have the fog option so this is what I did.

If all the wiring is there then it should work just fine.

if you buy generic "oem" replacement jeep cherokee fog lamps on ebay for $70 a pair, as I did, you may notice that the connectors fit, but do not click together, so I had to use some zip ties to keep them together tightly so they wouldn't come apart while driving. They also do not include the torx mounting bolts, so you will have to find some to secure the lamps.

Here's what I bought, lamps are bright and good quality, the only con was that connector not wanting to click together to the factory harness connectors hanging down.

Is that by the battery tray?
If it is,that is for the cruise control servo.

The fog light harnesses would be near the headlights or behind the front bumper near the mounting spots
