I have been following this forum for a while now and have been searching for a quality Cherokee to use as my DD and weekend warrior. I found a completely stock 01 Limited, green exterior in good condition, tan leather interior with power everything. This is a really nice jeep and only has 74,000 miles on it. They are asking $8,000 for it but would really only like to pay $7,000. Anybody have thoughts on whether $7,000 is too high/low/fair for this Jeep? And what do you think would be a good deal

IMHO that's way too much. I undestand it has low miles and all and might be very clean. But I wouldn't pay over 5k for any xj unless it was sitting on a showroom floor. Yes it's getting harder to find those low mileage clean jeeps but they aren't all that hard to find, for a low price.

im sure thats a fair price for what it is but just in case you arent familure with the potential head issues you could encounter read this

cant tell from the pictures but looks like theres some kind of issue on the pass side tires as the white lettering is showing on the black part of the sidewall if you pay premium dollar request new tires, and dont forget to look underneath for rust especially the floorpans also bottom edge of the doors anything you find use as abargining chip to whittle down the price

Where are you located? I had to pay $6k for my 2000 limited in California.
I you're in Jersey like the above poster, I wouldn't pay over $5k for a rust bucket either :P

The owner of this Jeep lives in Washington DC. I ended up not getting it though because it looked like there was a lot of oil coming from somewhere around the valve cover/head. I checked the coolant as well and it seemed really low so im guessing this one had the infamous head problem. Oh well i'll keep looking. Anybody selling?
