Default In from Camp Pendleton, CA, need help already! haha

Hello gents,

My name is Ky and I've been looking through these forums for a good while now, and finally have decided to buy an XJ. I'm an active duty in the United States Marine Corps. I'm currently attending jump school at Fort Benning, Georgia and will be heading home in two weeks. From there I will be heading back to Cali and pretty much want to drive back. Gas money isn't an issue, considering I get it all back when I get to my duty station.

I'm debating between the trims. I really love leather seats, but haven't really sat in a car with cloths seats in a while, so I'm not sure. What would you guys say are the differences between the limited, sport, and regular(?) editions. I know limited is a little more...uhh...luxurious? lol Anyways, I found a 2000 limited xj... it has 87k miles on her but the dealer is asking $8900 for her!!!!

That sounds a little steep to me and am not sure if it's worth the leather seats lol What should I offer for it?

I can find sport editions for a lot less, but they are usually in the 100k+ mileage.

Choices... Choices...

Any help/opinions/facts would be great.

Thanks!

edit----
also just found a sport 4x4 with 88k miles on her for $6850 The color of the car doesn't really matter to me because I plan on spray painting it desert sand anyways. but I guess if I shouldn't get a black car then...

I wouldn't worry about trim models. Everything cosmetic pumps up the price and can be upgraded later by yourself as you want it. Just make sure your Jeep is a solid runner. If you buy from a dealer.. get away from base. Go home and buy or some 50 miles away from Fort Benning. Doesn't matter what the sticker price on the window is if they rob you with high interest on a loan because they know your in the service.

Welcome, from Wisconsin. Try looking for earlier years. My '91 Limited is at 67k right now. But it still only KBB at $1500 - $2000

thanks for the welcomes!

and I bought her, I got him down pretty low. To a good amount below KBB value.

My father went over to test drive her and he said it ran awesome, he was impressed.

I shouldn't be surprised, it is a Jeep!

Anyways, I'm still in GA for another week, and then I have 2 weeks to mess with her before I make my cross country trip.
