Default About to be in the Cherokee world

hello, Im currently in the market for a 1991 Jeep cherokee.. I love offroadcapablevehicles of ANYKIND, and Ive yet to own a jeep... I have owned a 2001 2 door 4x4Blazer and a 1998 4x4 eddie Bauer Expedition.. I have some pics of a jeep cherokee that Im looking to but right now..... I
also have a few questions pertaining to this particular jeep...

-what are some common problems with these jeeps?
-It needs new shocks in the front... How much for a good pair of shocks and how hard are they to install?
-this man wants $3500 for this jeep...Does it look like its in amazing shape or what??? haha
-are these jeeps easy to work on and are the parts pretty cheap?
- Man says the engine and tranny only have 51,000 miles on them... anyway to tell if these things are new?
-offer opinions please...you guys are the cherokee experts and Id appreciate the input.. THANKS!

The specs for the jeep from what I personally know of are---- "new tranny and engine w 51,000 miles"....3in lift..looks like a suspension lift, 31in BFG A/T tires with plenty of tread......aftermarket wheels, and matching wheel on roof, winch bumper...and pioneer stereo and cd player, new headliner, no rips or tears in interior and straight body.. also....from the pics, it looks like the front end caseing for the gears is red... Aftermarket????
Thanks again guys!

Welcome to CF.
Doesn't look bad in those pics but hard to tell. Look for rust underneath.

51k miles isn't new, and it'd be hard to confirm. I'd just ignore what he says about that, plan that it *hasn't* been rebuilt. That'd be, in my opinion, the smartes thing to assume.

Shocks, you get what you pay for. I'd say $350 for a pair isn't bad, but it depends on what you want and what you go for (brand).

Common problems...anything suspension/bushing related. Make sure all bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc are good. Take it for a good drive, take it to freeway speed. Keep your eyes open, feel everything. Any wobbles, and something isn't right.

It has to be a suspension lift xj has a uni body. Sounds like he is asking a little much to me for a 91. And shocks are super easy and I picked 4 sky jacker shocks up for around 250 dollars

Attachment 26073I own a '91 limited, w/69,000 original miles. Kelly's Blue book puts it $1500- $2000. So I would try talking the price down.
