happy to of found this forum, back in june i picked up a stock 99 xj 5 speed,
i have to search for groups in the ny tri state area!!

Yea i herd of the diesels, that must be pretty cool!!

 

Xj wondersdo you fid it easier or more difficult to go off roading with a 5-speed

 

I don't use it to go off-road. I have a crawler for that. This is for my daily driving. But I took it on a trail once, performed as expected. I think manuals would be just fine on the trails, but when it come to rock crawling, I would prefer automatics.

 

Cool, no rock crawling for me.

Couple of buddies here do trails with manual transmission without any problem, should be fun for you too! Enjoy

 

Welcome from a fellow 99 5sp owner. I've been in a few spots on rocks where I wish I didn't have a clutch pedal but other than that, I prefer the ability to engine brake.
