89 Pioneer
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and to jeeping. I just recently picked up an 89 Cherokee Pioneer for a good price. The rockers are pretty much shot so I'm at some body work right now. Living in Maine with the winters and salt, I'm concerned about rust on the frame, etc. Anyone know any problem spots to keep an eye out for, or repair techniques If I need them. Also I haven't looked her over an awful lot yet, is the entire undercarriage undercoated from the factory?
I really like the Jeep so far, so I think I'll put some money into it. Was thinking of POR15 undercoating the whole underside if I need to. Anyone got any tips on what mods / repairs to tackle first on an old 89?
Thanks a lot, Sean

Welcome from Deep South Texas. The XJ has no frame it is unibody. Many have bad floor plans. Most were undercoated from the factory. Rockers and front floors are the most frequent rust areas. PM XJ Stryker as he did a writeup on replacing rockers and floors and then bedlining his. His info will be quite helpful to you.
