3rd Jeep, 1st Cherokee
New here... first Jeep in 10 years or so with the purchase of a nearly stock 2000 XJ, 4.0, automatic (ugh), which I traded for the Dodge Ram I was driving. I no longer needed a big truck, was tired of driving it, so an XJ seemed to make sense Only mods done by the previous owner are a K&N cold air intake (not sure if it really does anything useful) and some seriously bright headlights. I have a number of little things to work through, but overall it's in better shape than my Dodge.
Years ago I had a 1975 DJ-5D (LHD mail jeep) that was painted army green by the PO, even though not 4WD it did pretty good on the trails. Somewhat later I had a built 1976 CJ-5 which was a blast in the rocks. However, it was also my daily driver since I couldn't afford two cars at the time and though I loved driving it around town and in the woods it got to be a drag when I started weekly highway trips to the family cabin in another state, so I sold it... and still miss it. At this stage of the game the Cherokee seems like a good compromise.
I was pretty active on off-road.com back then but nowadays it (and particularly its Cherokee section) seems pretty dead. This seems the most active of the many Cherokee forums... I'm amazed how many [forums] there are devoted to the XJ.

Nothing worth posting, it's a bone stock XJ just like every other one you've ever seen. Might be able to find a pic or two of the CJ, I wish I had pix of the DJ.

Already got one... I have a 92 Miata, too, for my DD whenever there's not snow on the ground. The Jeep is for winter driving, hauling stuff, hunting and getting in to my cabin. Light wheeling... I doubt I'll get back into heavy rockcrawling as I have too many other interests competing for my time and money.
