Just purchased a 00 cherokee sport and i am having issues opening the rear hatch. i have already popped the hatch cover off and pulled on the release mechanism . i had adjusted the thread already that is in the plastic part, it still sticks and not able to open from outside

2nd issue is that i have checked heater core and it is clogged with redish brown muck, tried to run water in the return outlet but its way to deep in the line and pushes out the water, any ideas how to clear the core w/o pulling apart the dash?
