Default 2000 Cherokee Restore

Hey Everyone,

Look forward to browsing and learning more about Jeeps over the next few months with your help. Hoping this site can help me out as I look to restore a 2000 Cherokee and I'm not experienced at all with auto repair. My best friend passed away last year and ever since we were 16, he LOVED Cherokee's and loved to tinker with them. His latest project before he passed was this 2000 Cherokee XJ, which he was always excited about and always modifying.

Long story short, the engine isn't currently working but I'm going to do my best to try and get it operable again! I figure I can clean and restore the inside and some of the easier things, and leave the under the hood stuff to experts. Weather is finally breaking in Chicago, and I look forward to getting outside and trying to clean up this beauty and get it back on the road. From the outside it seems like a pretty awesome car, it just needs some replacements and new parts for the most part, and to have the inside cleaned/re-carpeted...... Obviously the engine is the biggest issue/focus.

Look forward to bothering everyone with questions! What is the best section of the forum for me to direct basic questions to, like....what is this and what's missing here?

Thanks!
