Smile 2.5 td speedo issues

Hey guys. I'm a newbie to the world of 4x4 (4 wheels, plenty on 2!) I've bought a mint 98 Cherokee and am totally in lust with it! I've taken it across the rough couple times and can't wait to grow into it and push our limits! Lol. Can anyone suggest why my Speedo sometimes works and sometimes doesn't? Does it run on a cable or some kind of sensor?
Cheers guys

I believe it's a sensor.. on either the tranny or the transfer case. There's probably a gear on the inner end of it. Plastic gear might be worn out and making it 'hit or miss'.

It's in the tail housing of the transfer case.

Check your wiring and check the plastic gear.

Welcome to CherokeeForum man! You will get many more responses much quicker if you post them in the correct location (not many frequent this portion of the site) Try posting it up in the OEM tech section. Good luck!
