I live in Georgia so I can't help you as far as finding a mechanic. Find a local Jeep club & get a referral or help from another member.

Wondering if its a waste of your time & $ is a personal preference. I'm sure folks wouldn't purchase them if they thought it was a frivolous upgrade.

I have one for you now, if you have access to a Dremil. Don't plan on getting any 8.25 specific backing plates. I get what they have. Sometimes there are some there but most of the time not.

Hi Big D,

I am looking for a kit for my 97 XJ. Do you have any available? I can certainly Dremel out the ZJ backing plate to get it to fit. Will I need new wheel studs for the conversion?

Thanks

I'm currently sold out. If I don't have to work next Friday I'll try to go get you & another guy a set. Plus I may grab a WJ front kit to have around in case someone wants one.
If I can't go then it will be about 4 weeks before I can get more kits.

My kit includes JY includes studs & pretty much everything else you need to install it. Minus rotors & passenger e brake cable. The pads are included if they have not been robbed. But they are only $20. The e brake shoe material (on the ZJ plates) 95% of the time are either totally gone, break during the removal process or fall off in transit.
The Liberty shoes seem to be made better. That or are in better shape just due to being newer. I'm not sure if they are interchangeable but the don't see why not since the rotors fit on the ZJ backing plate.

My XJ has ABS. Can you include the sensors from a ZJ in a kit to make it work on the XJ ABS system?

I can include them for an additional $35.
Since you have a Dana 35 the Dremel is not necessary.

Are you sure? A guy I know that is pretty knowledgeable about Jeeps said it is Chrysler 8.25. How can I tell?
