Nice.
I just bought an old Cherokee last month. Yours looks better. I like the vent window and the older style grille.
Mine's got a lot of nuisance issues.
Bad power steering pump.
Rot-through on the rockers, bottoms of the doors and front fender.
Badly peeling clear coat.
2 Rotten floor pans.
AC not working.
Heat blower switch not working.(Resistor)
Signal/4-way flasher solenoid bad.
Headliner is sagging,
Doorlock/power window issues. I already did the re-solder procedure under the control panel..
Bad lock actuator.
Broken speaker wire in the door jamb.
ABS light is on.
Needs front tires.
But the worst pain in the *** of all is the damned engine light. Everything is good. Hoses, purge valve, cannister. Yet I have two leak codes and an O2 sensor that won't go into "Ready" mode. I can't get an inspection.
In New York, Pre OBD2 means no more failed inspections because of that pesky damned engine light. They're exempt. You can also get full Liability and collision insurance for $300 a year. Haggerty Classic car insurance has my beat up 98 xj valued at $3500 replacement value. I told them I had just bought it for $750 and really didn't want collision/comp. I only wanted liability. They said collision/comp is mandatory, $3500 is the minimum and my Jeep qualified for that amount. Hey, I tried to be honest. But they insisted on over appraising my truck.
I paid $750 for mine. If your truck doesn't have all the issues that mine had, I would have paid $12-1500. The drivetrain is the important part. There is a great video on YT for that early XJ heater core. It seems a lot easier than the later models. That's the killer though. Nobody wants to mess with those, no matter what kind of car.
